The lights of your car .... reviewing

To ensure safe driving on roads it is necessary to maintain the lights and the lighting system of the car. Checking the lights is a simple procedure, but it should be done on a regular basis.

If any of the lighting systems fails, it can lead to a sanction by the DGT or an impediment to pass the ITV.

Here are a series of tips to keep in mind, especially before a car trip.

Long car trips. If you make the journey or long trip at night or at dusk, in which it is necessary to put the lights, the first thing to check is that the position lights, turn signals and brake lights are not burned out. The state of the lights depends a lot on the use made of the car and the conditions of the vehicle.

Height of the lights. The angle of the light beam will vary depending on the tire pressure and the load you have in the car. So it is important that you check if the height of the lights is well regulated, based on these factors.

To adjust the height correctly, the light beam should illuminate a sufficient distance ahead of us, while we are driving. If you think your angle of vision is not correct and you do not see a minimum distance clearly, you should check the lights as soon as possible.

Cleaning the headlights. The state of the screen that protects the headlights will help you have a better view of the distance on the horizon when you are driving. Make sure the headlights and lamps are not dirty and clean them if you drive in areas with sand, mud or bad weather conditions.
