You wheels new, where they are assembled? ahead or behind?

Your car needs new tires?

We have to replace a pair of wheels and always the same question arises: Where should I put new wheels on the car?

The new wheels are always placed on the rear axle

It is always the best choice, the safest and the most reasonable. It is not correct mount on the front axle. Ratios greater weight to new tires mounted on the rear axle only deal with the grip and security.

What happens to the weight distribution when braking the car? When we stop, the front axle comes down and still supports more weight, while the rear axle is raised above the ground and carries less weight in the process.

In a braking situation (and more if emergency braking), the distribution of mass of the car changes from rest and much of the weight shifts forward.

This means that more weight on the shaft, the grip at the front area increases (and tire wear). In contrast, the rear axle is reduced and the time is less able to grip firmly.

Have less ability to grip on the rear axle joined to generally rear suspensions are less energetic than the front.

If we fit tires desgastadosen the rear axle, we will be at a disadvantage and at risk if any of these three phenomena occurs:

  • Aquaplaning is given first to the rear wheels because they have less adhesiveness, and especially can notice this in a curve. Aquaplaning happens before is the more worn the tread of a tire.
  • A blowout, although not common today, it is more likely the longer a tire is worn. The effect of the blowout may be similar to a sudden oversteer and it is difficult to control their unexpected appearance.
